Sage hen centerpiece with baby hens for placecards

We were asked to create a sage hen to use in a centerpiece for a ladies luncheon. This group of ladies of the Class of 1955 graduated from Pomona College and have gotten together every year since. The host this year wanted something really fun for the table so we focused on the school mascot a sage hen. The sage hen was created using layers of styrofoam and several coats of navy blue, orange and white paint. Wiggle eyes add fun to it's face. The Class of 1955 sign is free formed adding extra dimension. Orange and white tissue were used for the base along with royal blue metallic curling ribbon keeping with the color theme.

We created a smaller version of the sage hen to be used as a place card and a special gift for each of the guests. The sage hens held a custom pennant with the guests name on it.
